What a stunning, dramatic painting Sandi!

Artist's Description

Earth, Wind, Fire 24" x 30" acrylic on gallery wrap canvas. A pale green photo of some trees shot on an overcast day inspired me to exaggerate their curves and imagine the scene as a fiery sunset. I got caught up in the sensual portrayal, with the twisting tree bark and movement added to the sky. I was compelled to add the mounding earth beneath the graceful trees. The rolling earth, leaning trees and hot sunset suggested "Earth, Wind, Fire".

Sandi Whetzel

Sandi developed a "do-it-yourself" attitude during her teens when she couldn't afford luxuries. She fabricated her wardrobe and then her home decor after she married. Mesmerized by PBS TV art demo shows, Sandi painted some of her hand-fashioned garments. When the couple purchased new furniture, wall art was not in their budget. Recalling the PBS art shows and her fabric painting, Sandi passionately plunged into oil painting, learning by trial and error. Sandi's self-guided art experiments blossomed with four years of instruction from a talented community college art instructor, Bonnie Hill, of Roseburg, OR.
