Product Details

Our luxuriously soft blankets are available in two different sizes and feature incredible artwork on the top surface. The bottom surface is white. Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. Looking for a recommendation? Go with a 60" x 80" plush fleece blanket. It's soft and luxurious on both sides... the artwork looks incredible... and the size is just right for everyone.

Artist's Description

My rendition of the Oregon Grape, Oregon's State Flower was commissioned to promote the 2009 Glide Wildflower Show, the premiere Wildflower Show held annually since 1965.

As in all my art, I was not content to merely reproduce an image of the plant. I wanted to give this flower the attention it deserves. After becoming familiar with the anatomy of the plant, I designed the holly shaped leaves as a backdrop for the cluster of buds beginning to open. I pushed the colors in the leaves. Rarely do we take the time to really notice all the intricate details of smaller flowers; especially when they are tiny buds in masses of color that are usually viewed merely as patches of color.

About Sandi Whetzel

Sandi Whetzel

Sandi developed a "do-it-yourself" attitude during her teens when she couldn't afford luxuries. She fabricated her wardrobe and then her home decor after she married. Mesmerized by PBS TV art demo shows, Sandi painted some of her hand-fashioned garments. When the couple purchased new furniture, wall art was not in their budget. Recalling the PBS art shows and her fabric painting, Sandi passionately plunged into oil painting, learning by trial and error. Sandi's self-guided art experiments blossomed with four years of instruction from a talented community college art instructor, Bonnie Hill, of Roseburg, OR. After Bonnie left that position, she persuaded Sandi to instruct the class. Sandi instructed art at Umpqua College from 1997 to...
